November brings ‘Highland Heifer’, contrasting well with Bonfires and Fireworks. Herefords and Highlands are striking English longhorns against the darker wintery skies. Winter starts to unfold, farms start to feed their livestock, instead of letting them graze. The grass stops growing and deteriorates. The last of the leaves fall off the trees.  Cold weather temperatures begin to set in as winter draws nearer, so livestock are usually housed inside by November and cows will need milking every day of the year. The sturdy animals remain outside with the onslaught of winter.
