January brings ‘Little Farm Pony’ stands in a cold meadow of long billowing golden grass blowing in the breeze. with red poppies. Leaden skies of winter cast a rare glimpse of sunshine as birds scatter and scrape for food on frozen ground and find momentary shelter on empty bird-tables. The landscape crisp, and the air is freezing, leaving me breathless as I gather my sketch book and walk across desolate fields of long grass. Trees look like bones, standing still in time. Sheep huddle together, as the highland cattle graze on hardened ground as other farm animals are housed inside barns. The little pony shows hope and courage as it battles the blustery weather. January is the month of hopes and resolutions, beginning plans for the year ahead.
