Journeys - 2021 Pledges
Thank you for all your support over last year. If you read a post on Instagram, commented, emailed, shared or purchased a painting — thank you so much.
The New Year has always been a great time to reflect over the past and plan for the future, to make those motivating resolutions.
Reflecting back, 2020 has been a strange and turbulent year for all of us. At the start of the year, I was performing my mundane day-job which I had done for over 19 years when, with the impact of Coronavirus at the end of March I was on a period of Furlough leave. Following lockdown and the unsettled period since, I was made redundant at the end of October.
My artist’s journey really began in March, with time on my hands, I have been able to pursue my dream of painting regularly and that is what I have done ever since. I have painted all of my life but not as a career. With an intense love of nature, animals and wildlife, the gift for me has been time on my hands to observe nature and the changing seasons to find inspiration.
By November, I was firmly fixed on pursuing my dream of being a full-time artist. A dream I have held for many years but have never had the time or courage to do so. Although Covid has caused many hardships, it has also indirectly caused different opportunities, making us re-evaluate our lives, forcing us to do things differently.
In December, I launched my own Website I was so excited to have created something that was unique to me and my art. Posting my art on Instagram has also been exciting, as well as developing a list of followers and people who I like to follow.
The Herd was the painting that inspired my latest body of work and now fronts my website. It is a painting inspired from the walks I take every day to a nearby farm near my home. Observing animals is an intriguing and addictive pastime. Watching sheep interact, their different characters, some approachable others awkward.
I used muted tones in the background, greys and Titanium white, giving an impression of the trees and Cadmium Yellow and Orange, Burnt Umber hues for the sheep, and a bit of French Ultramarine in the foreground.
The painting would look lovely over a mantel above a roaring fireplace or perhaps in a farmhouse kitchen. Prints are available too, sizes from A4 up to A1. I am offering 10% off all prints and originals to those who join my Collectors Club before the end of March.
So, with the New Year and with an overriding sense of renewal and hope that things will get better for us all in 2021, it is time to make pledges. Please let me know your thoughts and pledges for the New Year by emailing me at patriciajvalentiart@gmail.com. I would love to hear your stories of 2020 and how it has changed how you look at things.
We can all achieve amazing things (from writing stories, fitness goals, aims for our family, creating art, succeeding entrepreneurially, or just planning wonderful things to do with family and friends), let me know what you would like to accomplish in 2021.
